Holiday season life makeoverThere is simply no better time than the holidays to give yourself a total life makeover. Especially if you’re single, the holidays are the perfect time to look inward to assess how you’re feeling about your life, where you’re headed, and what you’d like to change before ringing in the new year.

I personally love giving myself life makeovers because they’re a great way to get rid of the things, people, and behaviors that are holding you back. This creates the space necessary for new, bold, and amazing things to happen.

So, if you’re feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, or just plain stuck, a life makeover is just the thing you need to create some powerful changes. Here’s a quick guide to get you started.

#1. Begin by cleaning out your closet.

The clothes you never wear that are still hanging in your closet are a perfect example of how you can’t welcome anything new into your life until you get rid of the old. To begin, head to your closet and get rid of any clothes that:

  • Don’t fit.
  • Don’t look great.
  • Don’t make you feel like a million bucks.

#2. Get rid of the friends who are holding you back.

Are you holding onto a certain friend who weighs you down and makes you miserable, yet you keep her around because you’ve been friends with her forever?

Negative Nancies, Jealous Jennas, Selfish Sallies, and Debbie Downers are not fun friends to have around, and they’re especially dangerous if you’re trying to meet a man. You see, if you’re constantly hanging around with negative women, it’s quite likely that you’ll pick up some of their self-destructive patterns. This will prevent you from welcoming positivity into your life, in addition to making you pretty unattractive to men. So, if you’ve got a negative friend in your life, it’s time to let her go — or at least limit the amount of time you spend with her.

#3. Assess your career.

Are you unhappy with your career and wish you could do something else for a living? Or, are you happy in your field, but your career path feels stagnant? Be honest with yourself about what’s making you unhappy regarding your career, and look for solutions. For example, if you’re feeling unfulfilled, you could start your own side business doing something you love. If your career feels stagnant, you could start applying for new jobs within your company.

#4. Get a more exciting social life!

How is your social life going? Do you spend your weekends going to parties and events, or are you far more likely to be found at home with a pint of ice cream and a glass of pinot noir? If it’s the latter, it’s time to commit to getting a more exciting social life! Get rid of any fears or insecurities that are holding you back, look for new ways to build up your confidence, and get out there and meet some new people!

A final note…

This guide covered a few of the main areas of your life that may be bringing you down, but there are countless other areas about which you may feel unhappy. If this is true for you, look at each of those additional areas individually and ask yourself the following questions:

  • Why am I so unhappy with this current situation?
  • What would make me happy?
  • What do I need to do to make that happen?

Take intentional, inspired action to change the parts of your life you’re not happy with, and I guarantee next year will be far better than this year was. Happy Holidays!
