What To Wear To A Winter Wedding

Tis the season to sparkle at a dramatic winter wedding! Getting dressed for any wedding can be a challenge, but unpredictable weather and freezing temperatures make figuring out what to wear to a winter wedding particularly difficult. To help you choose a look that keeps you warm without sacrificing style, here’s my comprehensive guide on what to wear to this season’s winter weddings:

Do:

  • Embrace a dramatic look. Now’s your chance to shine in glamorous sequins and metallic shimmer.
  • Select a dress in a color that looks amazing on you. Your skin tone is different in the dead of winter than it is in the summer, so experiment with new colors to find the one that looks best on you. Some colors to think about are royal blue, eggplant, and burgundy.
  • Consider choosing a dress for your winter wedding that you can repurpose for all of your holiday parties.
  • Wear strappy sandals and open-toe heels to ensure your look is party ready.
  • If your feet get chilly, have a glass of red wine to stay warm!
  • Have fun with accessories! Winter means chic gloves, a beautiful scarf, and a fancy winter hat.
  • Wear a beautiful, long coat in a rich color over your dress.

Don’t:

  • Don’t wear tights! I know it’s tempting to cover your legs when it’s freezing outside, but tights detract from your outfit’s chic factor. You’re better off going with a long wool coat to protect your legs from winter’s chill.
  • Don’t wear white! Not a white dress, or a white coat.
  • Don’t wear anything that’s super tight, skimpy, or short.
  • Don’t wear anything too casual. No jeans, flats, khakis, etc.

A final note…

No matter what you end up wearing to this season’s weddings, remember to have fun, dance all night, and use this beautiful opportunity to meet your future groom!
